Signing the Memorandum of Agreement with Centre for Coastal Management – Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), University of Cape Coast

On May 9, 2022, Infrastructure Development Institute – Japan (IDI) and Centre for Coastal Management – Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), University of Cape Coast, signed the Memorandum of Agreement under the auspices of the World Bank’s West Africa Coastal Areas (WACA) Program for mutual cooperation on coastal erosion control in West Africa.。

IDI works as the interim coordinator of WACA Japan Knowledge Network under the WACA Program. ACECoR has a mission to achieve sustainable management and use of coastal environment through training of human resources and demand-driven research to support coastal policy development in Africa. In line with the Memorandum of Agreement, IDI will collaborate with ACECoR to make experiences, knowledge and technologies in coastal erosion, flood and sediment management available to West Africa countries through knowledge exchange, research studies, training programme, expert dispatch, short courses and academic cooperation between Japanese relevant organizations and ACECoR.
