Corporate Mission

IDI’s purpose is contribute to international social development and to better, sustainable living conditions for people all over the world by participating in projects that promote international mutual understanding in the construction industry and contribute to economic and technical progress in developing countries, particularly with cooperation for the development, operation and maintenance of infrastructure. IDI was established in 1956, as a corporation under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Construction (currently Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT)).

1962 Dec Conduct Technical Cooperation on MoFA’s Order until establishment of JICA
1973 Jul Cojurisdiction by Min. of Construction and Min. of Transport
1978 Jul Establishment of IDI Research Laboratory
1995 Oct Opening of Paris Office (IDI-Europe)
2003 Mar Opening of Beijing Office
2008 Jun Closure of Offices of Paris and Beijing
