| Profile | ORIENTAL CONSULTANTS COMPANY LIMITED (OC) was established in 1957, one
of the earliest founded in profession in Japan, as an independent firm
of consulting engineers providing services mainly to civil engineering
projects. The Firm provides engineering consulting services to projects in the fields of highway, structures, traffic management, railway, marine, on-and off shore structures, urban development and transportation study, etc. The involvement of the Firm in all these fields can begin from the planning and feasibility study stages and continues throughout the final design, tender assistance and supervision of the construction, and to the management and maintenance stages of those projects. Currently, the Firm is involved with various stages of engineering consulting of project, worth approximate equivalent of US$15 billion in construction value. The head office in Tokyo with branch offices in Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sendai, Hiroshima, Shikoku and Shizuoka. The Firm, starting with some 30 engineers, now employs over 737 fulltime staff of which 591 are technical personnel including 259 registered consulting engineers. Projects are dealt by various specialized engineering departments within the Firm, such as the Highway Department, the Structural Department, the Planning/Development Department, the Information/Research Department, etc. The Infrastructure Engineering Department deals with those projects in needs of integrated expertise of other engineering departments. The International Department superintends the progress and quality of all the international projects of both overseas and in Japan. The Engineering Headquarters looks into major projects to check the fundamental subjects and to upgrade, if necessary, to keep the engineering quality up to the highest standard and maintain the excellency of the Firm. |
