 2nd Myanmar-Japan Joint Workshop on Water Related Disaster Mitigation and Water Resources Managementh was held on 22nd January, 2013 at Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, jointly organized by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism(MLIT) of Japan and Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement(MOSWRR) of Myanmar. IDI supported its implementation.
 Dr. Daw Myat Myat Ohn Khin, Minister of MOSWRR and Mr. Yasuda, Director of Overseas Project Division, Policy Bureau of MLIT made opening speeches.
 During the workshop, eleven presenters showed the technologies and experiences related the disaster mitigation and water resources according to the four main themes: disaster management system, early warning system, dam management and river management. Japanese presenters introduced advanced technologies and policies regarding these issues and Myanmar presenters reported current situation and activities related them. The active discussion brought the deeper understanding of Japanese technologies and experience for Myanmar participants. The cooperative relationship between two countries is expected to be further strengthened by this workshop.
 In the future also, it is hoped that disaster management capacity on both countries will be further built by having this kind of joint activities.
