What is IDI
IDI is the acronym of The Infrastructure Development Institute-Japan.
IDI is a non-profit organization operating under the guidance of the Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure and Transport of the Japanese Government.
Since its establishment in 1956, IDIfs primary objective has been to promote international
cooperation for the development of infrastructure essential to economic and social development,
and to ensure a safe and comfortable life.
The activities of IDI are broadly categorized as follows:
- Extending international assistance to developing countries;
- Promoting international exchange of information and people;
- Contribution to adjusting Japanfs infrastructure development systems to global standards.
About IDI Water Series
Publication of the IDI Water Series was initiated in 1997 with purposes to disseminate knowledge
and experience in Japan, and thus promote international exchange in the area of water
and river management.
Most of them are published in a form of book with Japanese and English on the opposite
page and provided with CD-ROM.
